Self-care rituals to add to your daily routine

Self-care rituals to add to your daily routine

We’re living in the age of self-care. Taking time out of your busy schedule to prioritise your health and wellness is one of the best things you can do for yourself. You no longer have to burn the candle at both ends and give in to hustle culture. And if you do, you should make sure you make time for a healthy dose of self-care.

Self-care rituals will help you to unwind, de-stress and prioritise your wellbeing. And when you make them rituals, you are more likely to work them into your everyday life. These are some of the easiest and most rewarding self-care rituals you can add to your daily routine for maximum benefits.

Taking a 30-minute walk

There are so many positive benefits to being more active, and one of the simplest ways to achieve this is with a daily 30-minute walk. You could fit this in first thing in the morning to get your day started off on the right note, or you could incorporate it after your evening meal to help aid in digestion.

The best thing about adding walking into your daily routine is that it doesn’t require any equipment. You don’t need a gym membership. And you can do it anywhere in the world, even when you’re travelling.

CBD oil

CBD is not a quick fix for specific conditions. Instead of taking it like paracetamol when you’re in pain, try taking it like a vitamin supplement when you want to support your overall health and wellbeing. You wouldn’t take a single vitamin C supplement and expect to avoid colds all year round, so don’t assume CBD will offer the same benefits.

To get the most out of CBD, make it a daily ritual. You could have it with your morning coffee to get you set up for the day. Or you could add it to a post-workout smoothie. It’s also the perfect addition to your bedtime routine to help you wind down for the night.

Drinking more water

One of the simplest ways you can support your mind and body is by giving it the basic things it needs to function. And that means drinking at least 2 litres of water per day. Do whatever you need to do to make this happen.

This might mean buying a 2l water bottle to help you stay on track. It could mean adding cordial or juice to your water to make it more palatable. Or it could simply mean making the effort to drink a glass of water before every meal. Your organs will thank you for it.

No media before breakfast

If you start your day by reaching for your phone and scrolling through social media, you might not be giving yourself the best start to the day. Consider ditching your phone until after you’ve eaten breakfast. This will help to stop the cycle of endless comparisons before you’ve even had a chance to fuel up for the day.

Once you’ve had breakfast and started your day, you might find that you don’t need your phone to make you feel connected. Since social media and phones have been linked to a wide range of mental health issues, this is one simple way to care for yourself without making a huge change.

Gratitude journaling

Want a more positive outlook? Consider adding gratitude journaling to your daily self-care routine. You don’t need any special equipment to do this. All you need is a notebook, a pen and a moment to reflect every day. List three things you are grateful for at the start of every day. Try to mix it up every day and think of something unique.

They don’t have to be big things; you could simply be grateful for the time to enjoy a morning coffee, spending time with family or catching up with a friend. After a while, you’ll soon find that you’re looking for the positives in life and living for the moment instead of dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.
